If you have ever wanted to experience life in Africa and contribute to a community at the same
time, consider volunteering with the Kiwanis Club of Kisumu. We need long and short-term
volunteers interested in helping with the following:
1) Kiwanis Junior Academy (a nursery school that caters to orphans as well as full-paying
students).
2) Kiwanis Feeding Programme and Activity Programme (which assists more than 50 orphans
and vulnerable children in Kisumu).
3) Administrative assistance (working in the office, helping to fundraise, etc.).
4) Ujamaa Microlending Programme (aimed at helping families become more self-reliant
through business grants).
Volunteers are expected to cater for all of their own needs, such as airfare, food, vaccinations,
health insurance, accommodations and other miscellaneous costs. However, the club members
can often host volunteers in their homes at a small cost. I help all prospective volunteers with
their travel and living arrangements.
For more information about volunteering with Kiwanis, please email me at
